What's stored where
GridLife is a personal board for your Second Life: the events, places and demos you care about. Here's where everything you put in it lives.
Your board
- Your board lives in your browser, on your computer or phone.
- If you connect Google Drive, it's also kept in a file called
gridlife.jsonin your own Google Drive, so it's the same everywhere you connect. You can open that file and read it. - GridLife can only see files it made in your Drive. It can't see anything else there, and it never asks for your name or your email address.
Nothing on our side
- Nothing about you is stored on our side. Your browser talks to Google directly; there's no GridLife server in between.
- There are no accounts, no tracking and no ads. GridLife never asks for your Second Life password.
- GridLife's small helper server (the Worker) only fetches and briefly keeps copies of public listings: the Seraphim events calendar and blog, and Linden Lab's Destination Guide. When you paste a Gyazo link, it also asks Gyazo for the picture's address. When you pin a link (or paste a page as a demo's photo link), it reads the start of that page once for its title, picture address and site name, and keeps those few words for up to a week so the same link isn't read twice. It never downloads or keeps the picture itself, and nothing it keeps says who asked. It doesn't keep anything about you or your board.
- The page's fonts come from Google Fonts, and the site is hosted by Cloudflare.
Events and places
Event and place details come from Seraphim and Linden Lab. Every card says where it came from and links back there. We don't store their listings: they're fetched fresh, and only a card you keep remembers a few details so it still shows if the listing goes away.
How to leave
- In GridLife, go to Settings and press Disconnect. GridLife stops saving to your Drive and lets go of its permission.
- In Google Drive, delete
gridlife.json. - In your browser's settings, clear this site's data (cookies and site data for gridlife-v1.pages.dev). That removes the board from your browser.
- Want to keep your board? Press Export board in Settings first: it saves the whole board as a file.
